Executive Director / CEO
Steve brought a background in social work and his passion for community to the YMCA in 2014, serving as our Chief Executive Officer. After earning a masters degree in Social Work from Ohio University in 2004, Steve spent 6 years providing education and clinical care to foster and adoptive children through Sojourners. During the following 4 years, Steve provided mental health and educational support for students of the Roweton alternative school. From 2008 to 2014, Steve served on the board of directors of the YMCA of Ross County, serving as board president from 2012 to 2014. As a graduate of Unioto High School, he is proud to serve the community in which he was raised. Steve lives here in Ross County with his wife Becky and three sons (Pacey, Reed and Kyler). When he's not at the Y, Steve enjoys travel, running and playing an array of sports. He also enjoys coaching youth soccer, basketball and baseball.
Associate Executive Director
My name is Tashia Mills and I have worked in the child care program here at the YMCA since 2014. I graduated from Ohio University in 2012 with my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I began my career here at the Y as a preschool teachers and have also worked at the Head Start program in the past. I'm a lifelong resident of Chillicothe, where I enjoy spending time with my husband, Shane, and our son, Andrew. I'm excited to serve as the director of child care programs, including our preschool program. I love working with both the children and their families!
Program Director - Gymnastics
Rachel was raised in Circleville, Ohio. She was a Pickaway County YMCA gymnast and was part of the competitive gymnastics team. Prior to joining our Y, Rachel was Director of Gymnastics at the Great Miami Valley YMCA, which is a multi-branch association near Cincinnati. Rachel is USAG certified and has coached YMCA, High School, Junior High, and Club gymnastics through level 9. She has 16 years of experience in chorography of routines and 22 years of personal experience as a gymnast, through level 8. She has also taught ballet and currently coaches competitive cheer with several state and regional championships. Rachel currently competes in adult gymnastics through NAIGC and AAU as a level 8 and excel diamond level athlete. She was the 2019 AAU balance beam national champion in excel diamond. She was a youth gymnast at the Pickaway County YMCA. Rachel resides in Chillicothe with her two sons.
Tim brings a wealth of knowledge to the YMCA from his career as a private contractor working in the heating, cooling and ventilation business. Tim has experience in HVAC, electrical, commercial buildings and industrial. On the personal side, Tim enjoys working on his family farm and spending time with his three children (Ashley, Tim Jr. and Julie), as well as his grandson. His family is also very active in the county fair, with his daughter Julie winning many showmanship awards with horses.
Lydia recently graduated from Miami University in 2016 with a B.S. in Kinesiology and Health. She majored in Public Health and received a minor in Nutrition. Lydia joined the Y team hoping to apply what she had learned in college as well as learn more within the field of health and wellness. She is an ACE certified personal trainer and especially loves creating new workout plans and helping her clients find new ways to incorporate healthy habits into their daily lives. Health and wellness is her passion and she loves getting to teach and equip others every day at the Y. Lydia enjoys being outdoors, exploring new hiking trails, kayaking, biking or playing any sport.
Sammie started her YMCA career in 2012 on our membership team. She has worked in several roles across our team including director of Child Watch and Assistant Membership Director. She has led in developing our member services team through creating a welcoming, inviting and engaging culture as members experience our YMCA. Under Sammie's leadership, we've seen steady growth in our growth and retention of members. Outside of the YMCA, Sammie is a proud mother to Braelynn and Emerson.
