Executive Director / CEO
Steve brought a background in social work and his passion for community to the YMCA in 2014, serving as our Chief Executive Officer. After earning a masters degree in Social Work from Ohio University in 2004, Steve spent 6 years providing education and clinical care to foster and adoptive children through Sojourners. During the following 4 years, Steve provided mental health and educational support for students of the Roweton alternative school. From 2008 to 2014, Steve served on the board of directors of the YMCA of Ross County, serving as board president from 2012 to 2014. As a graduate of Unioto High School, he is proud to serve the community in which he was raised. Steve lives here in Ross County with his wife Becky three sons (Pacey, Reed and Kyler). When he's not at the Y, Steve enjoys travel, running and playing an array of sports. He also enjoys coaching youth soccer, basketball and baseball.
Associate Executive Director
Zack has been the Associate Director of the YMCA since 2013, with a background including stops the Fayette County Family YMCA, Lima YMCA and previously at the YMCA of Ross County. Zack has a bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Ohio Northern University (Go Polar Bears!) and a master's degree from Duquesne in Sports Leadership. Zack's 15 year YMCA career provides an outlet for his passion of helping create safe places for young people and healthy activities for all ages. Zack and his wife Jennifer has three children who are actively involved in sports and school activities.
Program Director - Child Care
My name is Tashia Mills and I have worked in the child care program here at the YMCA since 2014. I graduated from Ohio University in 2012 with my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I began my career here at the Y as a preschool teachers and have also worked at the Head Start program in the past. I'm a lifelong resident of Chillicothe, where I enjoy spending time with my husband, Shane, and our son, Andrew. I'm excited to serve as the director of child care programs, including our preschool program. I love working with both the children and their families!
Program Director - Gymnastics
Gretchen was born and raised in Chillicothe Ohio. She was a Ross County YMCA gymnast for 8 years and was part of the competitive gymnastics team. After graduating from college, Gretchen moved to Los Angeles, California where she coached full-time at Monarchs National Gymnastics Training Center. At Monarch’s NGTC she was the Technical Compulsory Team Coach and was able to work with Olympic level coaches. Gretchen loves children and takes pride in seeing her gymnasts learn and improve their gymnastics skills while having fun. She has been a Professional Member of USAG and Safety Certified since 2000, and has attended many national and regional training conferences. Gretchen firmly believes that gymnastics gives children a great start to anything they do in life!
Tim brings a wealth of knowledge to the YMCA from his career as a private contractor working in the heating, cooling and ventilation business. Tim has experience in HVAC, electrical, commercial buildings and industrial. On the personal side, Tim enjoys working on his family farm and spending time with his three children (Ashley, Tim Jr. and Julie), as well as his grandson. His family is also very active in the county fair, with his daughter Julie winning many showmanship awards with horses.
Lydia recently graduated from Miami University in 2016 with a B.S. in Kinesiology and Health. She majored in Public Health and received a minor in Nutrition. Lydia joined the Y team hoping to apply what she had learned in college as well as learn more within the field of health and wellness. She is an ACE certified personal trainer and especially loves creating new workout plans and helping her clients find new ways to incorporate healthy habits into their daily lives. Health and wellness is her passion and she loves getting to teach and equip others every day at the Y. Lydia enjoys being outdoors, exploring new hiking trails, kayaking, biking or playing any sport.
