Open Positions:

Job Title: Child Care Worker (General)

 POSITION SUMMARY:  To provide implementation and instruction of daily activities for program participants in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervises a group of children.

  1. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.

  2. Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.

  3. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.

  4. Cultivates positive relationships, conducts parent conferences, and maintains effective communication 

  5. with parents. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.

  6. Maintains program site and equipment

  7. Maintains required program records.

  8. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.

  9. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.

  10. Attends staff meetings and trainings.

  11. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

  12. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

  13. Performs other duties as assigned.


 QUALIFICATIONS:

Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law.
At least 18 years of age. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds. Understands the YMCA is a public accommodation committed to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Job Title: Assistant Gymnastics Coach (General)

 POSITION SUMMARY:  The Assistant Coach teaches a variety of classes in the Gymnastics Department in a positive, safe, and fun environment. Positively and constructively communicates information to gymnasts and parents. All YMCA Coaches follow guidelines for class instruction as designated by the Director and the Gymnastics Team Head Coach.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervises a group of children.

1. Instruct class lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
2. Assists with preparation of lesson plans and able to learn routines for levels as prepared by USAG.
3. Develops positive relationships with participants, and provides motivational support and guidance.
4. Encourages member and parent involvement.
5. Conveys information about Gymnastics Department programs and schedules to the public.
6. Follows all YMCA Emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident reports for the department.
7. Safety checks on equipment prior to classes and helps to maintain equipment.
8. Travels to scheduled meets for the team season.
9. Attends training, clinics, and conferences during the off season.
10. Some office and clerical work as well as returning phone calls.
