Teaching a child to swim gives them skills for life to enjoy, thrive and save lives. Our swim lessons and water safety programs equip people of all ages with the tools to enjoy water safely and enjoyably. Our swim team program allows children to compete at a local and regional level against the finest swimmers. Our water aerobics classes provide adults the opportunity to exercise in a low impact environment.

The YMCA of Ross County offers preschool for children between the ages of 3 and 5. Our state-licensed program is rooted in the concept that learning and play are interconnected. We provide a safe, engaging and consistent environment for all children. Our program has year-round availability. We have adapted the Creative Curriculum® for preparing the children for Kindergarten. We also believe in the importance of creative activity, play and recreation.

After-School is a time for learning, exploration and fun. In a safe, enjoyable environment, we teach children to explore math, science, reading and recreational activities with our trained counselors. They will also receive support for their homework and have fun in a variety of games and activities. We offer after Latchkey programs a Huntington Elementary and Southeastern Elementary.

Gymnastics programs are for all ages at the YMCA. From our toddler Parent/Child Classes, all the way to our Adult Master's Classes, we have something for everyone who enjoys to tumble and flip. Our youth programs range from Twinkle Little Stars (3-4 year olds) to Gold and All-Stars. We also host a competitive gymnastics team that travels all over competing as a team.

Youth sports develops confidence and strength in children. We offer Rookies programs (free to members), which exposes children to a wide range of different sports. Our Youth Basketball League has been teaching kids the game for decades, in a supportive and respectful culture. Adult sports keeps people of all ages active and engaged in healthy living.

Summer time can be a challenge for many working families. Our summer day camp program has been helping moms and dads keep their children safe, learning, and having fun for many, many years. Throughout the summer, children ages 3 to 14 will take fields trips, learn about the world around them and have fun with our camp counselor team.

Child care is a need for all parents, and at the YMCA, it's what we do. The YMCA is the largest provider of child care for families in the United States. At the YMCA of Ross County, we provide child care for ages 18 months to pre-K (age 4/5). We are also licensed by ODJFS and can help support families in need of child care subsidies.
